Assets — anything in your course that isn't text: images, audio, and video. Managed in the Media Library.
Autosave — your edits save automatically as you work (without a manual save step).
Category — the highest-level grouping of content; think chapters. Each category has course material attached and must contain at least one topic.
Category Selection Screen — the page learners see when they first reach your course's categories, where they choose which category to explore first.
Course Flow — a visual, zoomable map of your entire course showing every page, branch, and connection top-to-bottom on a single canvas. Open it from Course Flow at the right of the editor toolbar.
Course Material — the information you want learners to read and understand within each category; often includes the actual policy text.
Course Review — an in-app review of a published course version where reviewers comment and suggest changes. Feedback is captured against a fixed course version with full history and audit trail.
Difficulty Level — courses adapt by varying difficulty between Normal (achievable for average learners) and Difficult (to challenge experts). Learners' next question difficulty adapts based on their previous answer.
External Reviewer — a reviewer without a Poet account, invited by email to a course review; also a role in User Management.
Flex / Flex Layout — the WYSIWYG editor that builds slides from Blocks and Sections. Modern, flexible, drag-and-drop approach.
Media Library — a central place to browse, upload, and manage media assets across all courses.
Review Lock — a read-only state entered when a course review begins, preventing content changes while reviewers work.
Scenario — the setting or context for an activity that practises a learning objective through real-life application.
Slide — a page that presents information only (non-interactive), via text, image, video, audio, or a combination.
Stage — a course's place in the production pipeline (e.g. In Progress, Translating, Translations Complete, Post-Translations Edit, Published).
Topic — a learning goal or objective; each topic represents what learners should take away. Learners prove proficiency by completing a topic's activities. We recommend no more than four topics per category.
Translation Memory — a store of previously translated phrases that gets reused automatically, saving cost and keeping wording consistent across courses.
Translation Workflow — the three-step process: extract (prepare text) → translate (via Confirm, your vendor, or AI) → publish (activate translations in the course).
