What are Badges?
Badges are custom digital badges that can be awarded when someone completes a Guide or a Challenge. Badges can be awarded on simple completion, or when a Learner gets a passing score. Badges can also be visible on the Learner Home page, so that the Learner can see how many Badges she has received.
Badges also can have Certificates attached to them. Certificates are downloadable PDFs that a Learner can print for proof of completion. These Certificates will also be emailed to Learners once they've achieved a Badge.
Creating a Badge
Navigate to your Badge tab in the administrator console under [Settings] > "Badges."
Click on [+New Badge] to add the title and choose a default or custom badge.
If creating a custom badge, we recommend a square image, regardless of actual size, with some amount of free space on all sides around the logo since the system will automatically display the Badge as a circle. Currently, it downloads as an image sized 273 × 274.
Optional: If you would like your badge to include a certification, check "Include Certificate", and fill in the following information:
Note: You have the option to customize your certifications by adding in your company's logo.
Add A Customized Certificate
If your organization already has its own certificate design, our Support team can add it to your account. Once it’s added, choose it from the Template dropdown when you create or edit a badge.
What to send us
Email support@workramp.com and attach:
A blank PDF of your certificate design. Include everything that stays the same on every certificate, such as borders, your logo, signatures, seals and fixed wording.
The page in landscape, at 11 × 8.5 inches (US Letter).
Empty space where the badge title, learner’s name and date should appear.
Text colours. Tell us if you want something other than black.
What’s added to your certificate automatically
Badge title, plus an optional second title line, taken from your badge settings
The learner’s name
The date the badge was earned
An expiry date, if you’ve set a Valid for period on the badge
Note: Once your requested certificate has been uploaded, it will be available under Settings >> Badges. Additionally, your certification will appear as a template option on the New Certification form shown above.
Good to know
Text is always centred across the page. We can move it up or down, and change its size and colour.
The font can’t be changed. Text is printed in a standard, clean sans-serif font. Put any branded typography in your design itself.
Long text doesn’t shrink to fit. A very long badge title or learner name may run into your borders or artwork.
Dates appear in one format, for example “October 28, 2026”.
Signature, description and logo fields are hidden when you use a custom certificate. Add these to your design instead.
Changes only apply to new certificates. If you edit a badge or your certificate design later, certificates that learners already have won’t update.
Tips for a great certificate
Plan for long names and titles. Leave plenty of space across the middle of the page.
Keep the text areas clear. Avoid busy images or patterns behind them so the text stays easy to read.
Keep badge titles short. Use the second title line rather than one long title.
Test before rolling out. Award the badge to yourself or a test user, and check the certificate before you assign it widely.
Finalize your design early. Do this before learners start earning the badge, because changes won’t reach certificates already issued.
Choose strong, contrasting colours so the certificate prints clearly, even in black and white.
