Adding an Announcement Bar to your Academy

  • Last updated:

You no longer need to leverage custom javascript and/or CSS to add an Announcement Bar to your Academy! If you'd like to promote new content or external sites, use the new Banner editor to announce and direct learners wherever you'd like.

Setting Up the Announcement Bar

To set up an Announcement banner in your Academy:

  • Navigate to your Academy admin console

  • Click Theming

  • Select 'Theme Editor' from the menu

  • Click the 'Banner' menu in the left-hand navigation

NOTE: The 'Preview' section will display the current Banner configuration whenever the 'Banner' menu item is expanded. This is for preview purposes until the Banner is actively enabled.

The Announcement Banner has 3 core sections for configuration:

Visibility settings

By default, the Banner is Disabled. You have 2 options for enabling the banner:

  • Enable Now

    • This will take the existing configuration of the Banner and instantly publish it to all Academy pages (except within Guides and Resources)

  • Schedule

    • This allows you to configure a future date and time to enable the banner, as well as a date and time to disable the banner.

NOTE: When the Banner is ENABLED, any changes made to the Message or Link sections will update the live Academy in real-time.

These setting will determine the color of the Banner itself and the Text color, as well as the text displayed within the Banner.

    • The color of the message text within the Banner

  • Message
