Filtering search results enables your learners to fine tune their search to find the most relevant content for their needs and learning preferences more quickly and easily.
How it works:
On wide screens, the filters show on the left-hand side of the search results page. On narrower screens, learners select the 'Filters' button to open the filters in a side panel. Filters other than 'Search In' are in an 'Additional Filters' section that learners can open and close.
Only filters available to your organisation will be shown.
Learners can apply and remove filters as required.
A filter count at the top clearly indicates the number of active filters.
Org Admins can include as many learning experience custom fields as filters as they like for their organisation.
Filters available to all organisations
-
- Learning experience activity types
- Duration, with the options '1-30 mins', '31-60 mins', '61-120 mins', 'Over 120 mins' and 'Not set'. Learners see only the options that match at least one open learning experience in your organisation. The Duration filter does not show unless at least two of these options have a match.
- Provider Type - requires integration with a third-party content library e.g. GetAbstract, Harvard Manage Mentor, etc.
-
Custom learning experience fields that are configured to be 'Filterable on Search and Discover pages'
- Note: learners will be able to see ALL of these fields an the available options, regardless of whether the learner has visibility of any learning experiences where the field is used.
Filters that depend on other features
- Skills, including skills added to learning experiences manually and automatically. To turn on the Skills filter, ensure you are using the Skills Builder integration and then contact Confirm Support.
- Search In, which shows only when 'Enable Knowledge Base Search' is turned on for your organisation. Learners choose 'All' (Learning Experiences and Knowledge Base), 'Learning Experiences' or 'Knowledge Base'. Knowledge Base search finds matches from within content such as PDFs and Adapt content.
